The Hiscock Legal Aid Society is pleased to announce that it has received a challenge grant from the Allyn Foundation, which will match dollar-for-dollar all new or increased donations from attorneys up to a total of $15,000.
Matching funds from the challenge grant will be used to support the International Victims Project (IVP) which provides assistance to immigrant, migrant, and refugee victims of domestic violence.
A Staff Attorney from the Hiscock Legal Aid Society works closely with a Vera House IVP Victim Advocate to provide holistic services including safety planning, complete representation in all legal matters related to the domestic and/or sexual violence and immigration issues, orders of protection, divorce custody/visitation, support, unemployment, housing matters, public benefits, and immigration services.
In desperate times, the International Victims Project is often the only alternative for these individuals to access guidance, advocacy, and solutions for a safer, more secure future for themselves and their children, thus aligning with the Allyn Foundation’s vision of promoting and supporting long-term sustainable solutions that target improved quality of life in our community.
The International Victims Project has provided comprehensive holistic services to 77 victims in 140 cases since its inception in 2008.
We are calling on our legal colleagues to help us help these victims! Please donate today
